How Do You Ensure Grid Compliance for a 1200 MW Solar Plant in India?

Challenge=E2=80=99s they faced:

When worki= ng on this project, the solar plant had to meet the following requirements = across four 300 MW sites: 

=F0=9F=94=B8LVRT & HVRT Compliance =E2=80= =93 To remain connected during voltage dips and surges.
=F0=9F=94=B8H= armonic Distortion Limits =E2=80=93 THD at the 400kV POI was excee= ding IEEE 519-2022 limits
=F0=9F=94=B8Flicker & DC Injection Cont= rol =E2=80=93 Required verification under real-world inverter load= fluctuations 
=F0=9F=94=B8Multi-location Inverter Beha= viour =E2=80=93 Needed to validate inverter performance across all three si= tes under varying load conditions.

Our Solution 

To address= these challenges, we conducted a comprehensive grid compliance study using= PSCAD: 

=F0=9F=94=B8Dynamic Simulation for LVRT & HVRT =E2=80= =93 Simulated symmetrical faults and overvoltage scenarios at 100%, 50%, an= d 25% load levels.
=F0=9F=94=B8Dynamic Simulation for frequenc= y response, Voltage response and active power ramp =E2=80=93 Simul= ated active power changes with respect to frequency changes and voltag= e changes. The rate of change of power output is limited to not more than += 10% per minute.
=F0=9F=94=B8Harmonic Analysis =E2=80= =93 Identified dominant 13th harmonic, then designed custom filter banks at= each 33kV bus.
=F0=9F=94=B8Filter Bank Design - Sugg= ested Filter banks with Capacitance of 24.813 =C2=B5F and Inductance of 0.0= 0245 H for Dhaulpur, Raiser, Deoghar & Phalodi Plants to meet the IEEE = 519 guidelines. 
=F0=9F=94=B8DC Current Injection&nbs= p;=E2=80=93 Verified injection was only 0.03% (well below 0.5% limit)
=F0=9F=94=B8Flicker Study =E2=80=93 Simulated irradiance c= hanges; ensured Pst =3D 0.46, Plt =3D 0.46 =E2=80=94 both within IEC 61000 = limits.
