Generator Differential Protection Study Awa= rded for 100 MVA Units =E2=80=93 UAE

Power Projects has secured a new assignment fr= om a reputed UAE-based engineering

consultant to carry out the Generator Differential Prot= ection (87G) and Restricted Earth Fault Protection (64REF) Study for two 11= kV, 100 MVA generator units. This work focuses on developing accurate and = OEM-aligned protection settings using ABB relay configuration templates.
The study covers data verification, differential and REF protection ca= lculations, CT evaluation, and stability checks to ensure safe and reliable= operation during internal and external fault conditions. All settings will= be validated using ABB=E2=80=99s templates to support smooth commissioning= and long-term system dependability.

Our engineering team will prepa= re the complete calculation report, setting sheets and revisions as require= d, with a clear delivery schedule of four weeks. This project strengthens o= ur ongoing support to industrial and utility clients who depend on precise = protection coordination and robust generator safety practices.

Power Projects Awarded EMI/EMC Study for 400 kV STATCOM Su= bstations

Power = Projects has received a new assignment to carry out an EMI/EMC Study with a= focus on Radio Interference Analysis for 400 kV STATCOM substations in Sou= thern India.

This study supports the PGCIL System Strength= ening Scheme and plays an important role in ensuring that high-voltage asse= ts meet global electromagnetic compatibility standards.

Our team wil= l analyse radio interference from =C2=B1200 Mvar STATCOM systems, which are= known for fast-switching transients that can impact communication systems = and insulation performance. Using ANSYS HFSS, engineers will simulate elect= romagnetic emissions from valve halls, assess shielding performance, and ev= aluate grounding and bonding improvements across the 0.15 MHz to 300 MHz ra= nge.

The scope covers detailed EMI/EMC evaluation, shielding optimis= ation, material review, RIL verification, and compliance assessment as per = CISPR 18, NEMA 107 and PGCIL specifications. The study will also deliver pr= actical mitigation strategies to reduce radiated and conducted noise.
This assignment strengthens our position in high-voltage EMC engineering = and supports the development of safer, reliable and interference-free STATC= OM installations across the grid.

Power Syst= em Study for a 200 MW data centre in Oman. This engagement focuses on ensur= ing reliable, stable and high-performance power supply for one of the regio= n=E2=80=99s largest critical-load facilities.

Our team will carry ou= t a wide range of engineering studies, including load flow, short-circuit a= nalysis, motor acceleration, transient stability, harmonics assessment, vol= tage flicker evaluation, phase unbalance analysis and resonance studies. Th= ese assessments are essential for maintaining power quality and operational= continuity in large data centre environments where even minor disruptions = can lead to significant impacts.

This project further strengthens Po= wer Projects=E2=80=99 capability in mission-critical power system engineeri= ng and reinforces our role in supporting complex global infrastructure thro= ugh accurate simulations and standards-driven analysis.

Advanced EMT Simulation Training Deli= vered to VELLD Power System Consult Sdn Bhd

Power Projects conducted a focused 5-day

 

Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) study training for the enginee= ring team at VELLD Power System Consult Sdn Bhd. The program was designed t= o strengthen their capability in handling complex power system events throu= gh DIgSILENT PowerFactory-based simulation.

The session covered key = areas such as Temporary Overvoltage, Switching Overvoltage, Lightning Overv= oltage, Fast Front Overvoltage and Very Fast Front Overvoltage. The team al= so worked on practical fault simulations at 33 kV, 11 kV and 0.4 kV with di= fferent time durations to understand system behaviour under stressed condit= ions.

The training was handled by our engineer Kav= itha Paramanandan , who guided the team with clear methods and han= ds-on examples. This program helped the participants gain the skills they n= eed to approach EMT studies with confidence.

PSC= AD Corporate Training Strengthens Engineering Capability at KSA=

The sessions were led by our Business= Head Selvakumar S along with Raghunath V G&nb= sp;and focused on grid compliance basics for renewable energy, key grid cod= es, solar and wind system modelling, and real-time grid integration studies= . Engineers spent six hours each day on practical simulations, live case di= scussions, and hands-on modelling using PSCAD.

The program helped cl= ear doubts, strengthen study skills, and build confidence in handling real = power system challenges. We thank SABIC and CompuSOFT for the trust and the= opportunity to work closely with their team.

resource person fo= r a session titled =E2=80=9CMATLAB Simulation and Hands-On with OPA= L-RT for Modern Power Systems and Power Electronics Applications.=E2=80=9D<= /i> The program was conducted on 29 November 2025, organis= ed by the School of Electrical Engineering in collaboratio= n with the Faculty Development Centre at Vellore Institute of Techn= ology, Chennai. The session provided a strong academic and practical fo= undation for faculty members, research scholars, and post-graduate students= , addressing current engineering challenges in modern power systems through= simulation and real-time analysis.

The program covered a comprehens= ive set of topics, including modelling renewable-integrated power system co= mponents using MATLAB SimScape, conducting power electronic simulations in = MATLAB/Simulink, and addressing real-time implementation challenges using O= PAL-RT. Participants were also introduced to the fundamentals of PSCAD/EMTD= C, model development practices, and key EMT studies. In addition, the sessi= on explored emerging trends in renewable integration, the structure of the = Indian grid, and relevant grid code requirements. With 25+ active p= articipants, the program fostered technical discussions and meaningful = learning exchanges, underscoring the value of continuous academic=E2=80=93i= ndustry collaboration.
